Looking for a cabin crew job can often be a really difficult task. It takes time for your luck to shine and your hard work to bring results. This does not mean you should stop believing in yourself or that you will never get a job. There will be a time when you get an interview for and you should recognise that this is a major achievement.
Failing at an airline interview means that you will not be able to re-apply to that comnpany for 6 months!
The importance of planning and preparing for the interview cannot be stressed enough, but still people make mistakes that result in interview failure and I am going to talk about four things that you should absolutely avoid during the interview session.
1) Freeze during the session:
Many candidates have an amazing job profile as well as decent communication skills. However, when they arrive at the interview, it probably is not their day or they just get lost in the moment. Make sure you have the backup plan arranged in case you freeze up during the interview..
2) Try to be dominating:
Your interviewer is experienced and you should always respect that. Never try to dominate them by being overly aggressive, talkative or over confident about anything. The moment you do that, your interviewer will start judging you.
3) Being too casual or sloppy:
The worst thing you can do during an interview is to show that you are not serious about it or the job. Never leave an impression that you do not want the job or you are taking it too lightly.
4) Talk negatively about the previous company or the company you are at:
You might not like some policies of the company you are applying for, but do not voice those opinions like you are coming there to change. Always be diplomatic and pleasant in your tone. If you have previously worked somewhere, do not talk negatively about that company.
Thanks so much for this. Recently applied for BA and didn’t even get invited to the Assessment Day- gutted! So need all of the advice I can get lol!
You’re welcome Olivia and good luck.
Keep on believing and you will get that job
Thanks
Pauline

Hi Niamh
I know that it’s difficult but you need to keep going.
A course like the Personal Development Award: The 7 step Cabin Crew Success Programme is totally free and can hopefully identify exactly where you’re going wrong.
You can sign up here
Keep believing in yourself and never give up
Good luck and I know you’ll get there in the end

Would love to be cabin crewe but think i’m to young as im only 17. Am I?
Hi Rebecca
You are too young at the moment because airlines require that you be either 18 or more commonly 21. The good news is that gives you loads of time to get a job where you’ll be dealing with customers – this is the single most important thing you can do. Airlines really value people who’ve got real customer service experience and it doesn’t really matter where, so even a part-time job in a shop would be a great help. You should also start to work on your CV and build a really professional profile on LinkedIn.
Good luck and let me know when you get an interview.
